In this video recipe watch how I show you how to make a salted caramel hot chocolate with gorgeous toasted marshmallows, such an easy homemade gourmet hot chocolate recipe for you to try.

First up we will make the salted caramel so combine together the sugar and water in a frying pan over a low flame until simmering and the sugar has dissolved. Let this bubble away until it turns amber and then add in the butter (carefully!) over the heat still stirring until melted through. Immediately remove from the heat and follow up with the cream going in stirring until combined, then add salt to your liking a good tsp at least is needed! Leave to cool.

Make the hot chocolate by warming up the milk in a saucepan, add the chocolate and homemade salted caramel. Let this warm through and simmer for around 5 mins to get nice and frothy.

Meanwhile toast some marshmallows if you want a tip on doing this watch my toasted marshmallow shots recipe video. Also with some bashed biscuits and a spare marshmallow rub the glass with the mallow to create a sticky band and then sprinkle the bashed biscuits on top – they’ll stick to it and look awesome!

Pour the hot chocolate into the glass, dunk in some toasted marshmallows, top with a drizzle of salted caramel, some more salt for extra tang and finish with grated chocolate – super good!
